Weeks or months?

before i was pregnant, i never understood why women would say 24 weeks.  why not say 6 months?!  or 28 weeks.  why not just say 7 months?!  it almost annoyed me.  but i think i get it now.  our bodies change so quickly each week that we, or at least i, track my own pregnancy journey week by week.  actually, sometimes day by day.  i swear there's always somethin' new happening to my body that's foreign/weird/kinda gross/amazing...you get the picture.  anyways, i just thought i'd shed some light on this ever so important subject of stating a woman's pregnancy progress in weeks vs months ;-)

i'm thinking that's why when you ask a mom how old her child is she'll say 14 months, or 18 months, or whatever their child's age is in months.  this puzzled me as well, before i became pregnant.  but i'm thinking now about it, and it's probably because babies grow so fast and are developing and changing so quickly that from 12 months, their child can be totally different at 14 months.  am i right moms?

and now, because it's my blog and i can post whatever i want...even if it's totally unrelated...i'll leave you with a few no a lot of photos of my 2 lovable rugrats at the park.

even if this photo of bubba is overexposed, i had to include it b/c
he's too stinkin' cute.

again, i don't care about bubba practically glowing.  he's too adorable.

while bubba takes the cake for being cute.  my joey biscuit is just so handsome.

he's blind, so he's constantly sniffing the ground.

my jojo in action.

aah yes, a shot with both of them together.

hehe, you get to see jojo's white booty.

handsome i tell you.  handsome.

don't let bubba fool you.  he's no puppy, even tho he looks like one.

anyone who has walked my dogs knows this about jojo.  at any given
notice, he will just sit.

it can be a bit annoying and embarrassing if others are around.  it sometimes
comes to the point where i have to carry him home.
oh well...i'll do it, because i love him.

all 3 of us were just trying to enjoy our last few days of fall before it starts to rain.  and as a closure, i'll leave you with this photo.

thank goodness i can still see my toes!

Camera strap...big deal.

that's what you think.  i've been eyeing a certain black and white camera strap and i finally took the plunge and purchased it a few weeks ago.  low and behold, on a day when john and i are recuperating from a bad cold, a package arrives on my doorstep!  and if i do say so myself, i think this camera strap is cooler than i thought it would be. now i just have to take the plunge and by my nikon 18-200 mm f3.5-5.6 zoom super wide angle lens.

and just in case you were wondering, this is what i do when i'm bored...sit on the floor in my room, in front of my mirror, surrounded by my dogs, and take pictures.  yes, sad but true.

For the sake of cuteness.

there is something so magical about little girls.  i have no idea what it is, but the cute factor gets dialed up to a zillion.  my nieces weren't doing anything, except just being themselves.  and i had the opportunity to shoot them.  see for yourself!

saltwater sandals!

now how could i post photos of my nieces and not include this little one.  although, she's not so little anymore.  she's only 11 and has bigger feet than me!  she sure does test my patience sometimes, but i do love her lots.  we're all being silly here...my niece and her 2 godparents.  i told you already, i'm the biggest dork there ever was.

p.s.
all photos were taken at my cousin's loft in the SOMA.  i was lovin' his brick wall.  it made the perfect backdrop for all of our family photos.

My birthday kick off :: Part 2

when my brother got home he surprised me with a sweet birthday card and baby gabriella's first gift.

of course he had to get her 49er's gear.
btw, i'm sot so sure about stripes anymore...
then we headed to san mateo with my parents to celebrate my birthday at himawari.  so far ramen dojo takes the cake.  but himawari was good too.  overall, this has got to be one of the best birthday kick offs for me.  i really have to count my blessings!  34 ain't too shabby ;-)

i am stuffed!  the birthday marathon takes a break tomorrow (gotta work), but then friday is cotogna and sat is dinner with my cousins.  life is good.

Ramen craving.

i have been craving for ramen for 2 weeks now, thanks to my 2 friends who went without me...thanks a lot shar and sana ;-)

thoughts of spicy, hearty, flavorful broth, with perfectly cooked ramen noodles, savory pork, corn, roasted seaweed, earthy shitake mushrooms, and a single grand quail egg to top it off have been flooding my brain and making my mouth water.

in preparation for our work week (friday is actually john's and my monday), he graciously agreed to go to san mateo so that i could get my ramen fix.  ramen dojo converted john into a ramen lover!  that tells you that this place is gooooood.

and now for some photos...

we got there at 1pm on a thursday and there was a line!

pork belly = yum
roasted seaweed = yum
corn = yum
roasted garlic = yum
ramen dojo = yuuuuuum

i was so happy when i found out that
yogurtland opened in burlingame.
it was a perfect ending to a
lovely afternoon.

Capturing emotion through photography.

my favorite types of photos are ones that capture a spontaneous moment, expression, feeling.  i realize that staged group pictures are a necessity particularly during large get togethers.  however, it's not very interesting to look at or admire, unless of course you are in it ;-)

here are a few of my favorite photos i took when john and i went to san diego.  what do you think...did i capture emotion?

this one was not taken in san diego.  but i wanted to include this photo
of my niece.  i have a feeling she's thinking of her
wish right before she blows out her candles.
she turned 11 on 9/1/2012.

Dedicated post to my first babies.

lately, i've been wondering how my relationship with my dogs will change once our newest addition arrives. will bubba and joey be less cared for, forgotten, receive less attention?

oh boy, that's a tough one to swallow.  i can't imagine loving them any less. you see, i really do think of those 2 as my first babies. everyone adores them and they are both so good with my niece that i'm sure they will acclimate just fine once the newest member of this family arrives.

for those who have dogs, did it change much once you had a new baby?  please tell me no...

and now for some photos.

stare down.

joey: whatcha got in your hand Olivia?

joey: i'll be resting right here while you point at the picture frames.

olivia: i'm trying to pet you joey! stop moving!
bubba: that's my toy olivia. but you can play with it if you want.
joey: what are you guys doing down there? keep it down, i'm trying to rest.
