Favorite maternity clothes.

since i am a nurse, i'm lucky to not have to buy corporate style clothes.  if you have to dress up for your job, this post may not be for you.

i have always been a tank top, jeans, and cardigan type gal.  so i had a ton of sweaters that i still use to this day.  adding a long sweater/cardigan has a slimming effect ;-)  oh so important when you're feeling large.  shall we start?

H & M
i bought several of these tanks in different colors for only $5.95 in a size large since
these aren't maternity tanks.

target
like the tank tops, i bought 3 of these long sleeve maternity tops in different colors
  for only $14.99.
since they are maternity tops, i bought a size medium.  i wear these to work,
to run errands, and to work out.  definitely a staple in my wardrobe.

old navy
love, love, love these yoga pants.  i bought 3 of these pants.
yes, i wear yoga pants that much.  these pants are comfortable and very flattering.
i bought a size small and the  length was perfect for me.  i'm 5'6''.
in my opinion, full panel is the only way to go.
and for $24.94, it's a must buy.  i think i even got it for 30% online.

motherhood maternity
i posted about skinny jeans here.
but i especially love the black, skinny, ponte, full panel pants.
these pants are very flattering and they are not skin tight like leggings.
plus the fabric is thick which hides unsightly lumps and bumps.
fyi, unfortunately the prices have gone up on these pants and the skinny
jeans i bought.  they used to be only $29.99 =(

if you follow my blog, then you know that i'm all about my blanqi and compression stockings, so i don't have to go into detail about those items.

there you have it, my maternity wardrobe.  i don't plan on buying anything else for the remainder of this pregnancy.  what were your maternity wardrobe staples?

A manly, yet stylish diaper bag.

remember when i posted about my diaper bag conundrum?  well, john had a diaper bag conundrum himself, lol.  like i mentioned before, i had registered for the black diaper dude messenger bag from babies r us as seen here.

when i was on gilt and looking at the baby & kids section, i came across this grey faux suede diaper dude bag.
husband was immediately drawn to its aesthetics and stylishness.  i swear, he's way more hip than me.  plus it was only $50.  this bag is usually ~$100.  so we bought it and removed the other diaper bag from our registry.  you know i'm going to ask...did your husbands want their own diaper bag?  or did you share???

Digital perming, step-by-step.

for all of you who are just dying to know what a digital perm is and how it is accomplished, here ya go!

that's joe.  first step, a trim.  fyi, you must come with
freshly washed, dry hair.

trimming...

still trimming...

a before photo.

the tools.

curling.

more curling.  joe even has an assistant...or 2.

...and more curling.

whole head is now curled.

the machine.  this is what makes it "digital".

cords. cords. cords.

getting plugged in.  i know what you're thinking...
is that safe?!?!
yes. it. is.

and the heat begins.

here we are waiting.

a curl check by assistant numero dos.

taking out the rollers.  and making pin
curls.

more pin curls.

must pin curl the entire head of hair.

head of hair is now pin curled with solution.

while we wait, we eat.

now we rinse + shampoo + conditioner.

just me being bored.

curly, but not too curly.

getting diffused.

curls!

this is when joe educates his clients on ways to blow-dry
their newly permed hair.

more education.

and more education.

How do you get sexy hair? With a digital perm!

remember when i posted about this?  and this?  i want to talk about digital perms yet again.  i have a love hate relationship with this hairstyle.  it is truly the way to get sexy hair.  but, like i said before, after 2 years of digitally perming my hair (only twice a year mind you), i noticed that my hair was thinning.  with that being said, i think i would get another digital perm once my hair grows longer.  it sounds crazy, but this type of perm allows us asian women to have soft, naturally-looking curly hair with no work at all.  it may look like it took hours to get these curls, but it is a wash and go type of hairstyle.  now if that doesn't intrigue you, then i have no idea what will.  i have my dear cousin to thank for this new found obsession with sexy hair aka digitally permed hair.

let me start off by stating that the place to get a digital perm in san francisco is at star east hair and beauty by joe whom i aptly coined, the hair whisperer.  he is the owner and sole hairstylist of this small, unassuming, chinese hair salon in the richmond district.  for those of you who aren't well versed on digital perms, let me show you some photos of this type of japanese perm from around the web.

sexy hair, right?  well, my 2 cousins from NY visited me a few weeks ago and 1 of them, who has NEVER done anything to her hair before...we are talking virgin hair...decided she wanted a digital perm.  she asked me to accompany her to get it done, and i graciously obliged.  it took almost 4 hours people!!!  it just shows, i do love my cousin.  thankfully i had my ipad, my other cousin (her sister), and a lunch date at pizzetta 211 to kill some time.

are you interested in seeing the step-by-step process of obtaining such sexy hair?  you'll have to wait for my next post, hehehe.  but i'll show you a sneak peek right now.

scary but interesting, right?

till next time my dear friends!
